Slow-Roasted Baby Back Ribs

These fall-off-the-bone ribs are so tender and easy to make….and even with cooking them for 7 hours, it will still be less of a wait than going to Texas Roadhouse for ribs! 😉

Seriously, though…..these are easy to prepare earlier in the day, then just stick them in the oven and forget about them….only you CAN’T forget about them, because they smell so darn amazing!

You can buy baby back ribs in the meat section of most grocery stores. They are usually in a vaccuum sealed package like the one pictured below. Cut open the package, cut into smaller sections, season as desired (I use my stand by seasoning for meat, which is McKormick Seasoned Salt and McCormick California -Style Garlic Salt). If you want to go the extra mile, you can remove the membrane by inserting a sharp knife between the membrane and the bones/meat on side with the bones, and pull the membrane off. I sometimes do this, and I sometimes don’t. It does make them fall apart easier, which can be a good or bad thing. It’s not so great if you are grilling them on the grill because the membrane does help to hold them together so you don’t lose part of the ribs down into the coals!

Place the ribs into a roasting pan (or a 9×13 inch pan works fine too) lined with foil and then cover with another piece of foil. Fold the ends over so it is sealed on all ends. Place it in a 275* oven for 7 hours. Honestly, you can even cook them for 8 hours or so. If I don’t have this much time, I turn the temperature up and cook them for a shorter time, but they turn out the most tender when cooked at a low temperature for longer.

In the colder weather, I brush on some BBQ sauce and place under the broiler for a few min on each side to sear the BBQ sauce on, remove the last bit of the fat, and make the outside a little crunchier. In the summer, I often put them on the grill for a few minutes on each side for the same reason and it picks up that grilled flavor!
