This pizza dough is seriously SO easy that you won’t believe it! I like it best when I let it sit covered for about 5 minutes before shaping, but it also works to just press it immediately into the pizza pan if you are in a rush.
All the dry ingredients go into the mixing bowl. Make sure you use rapid rise or instant yeast (sometimes labeled as bread machine yeast.)
Add the warm water and olive oil and mix until incorporated. I knead it for a moment in the bowl to get any leftover flour on the bottom and then knead on a lightly floured surface for minute, If you have 5 minutes, cover with a cloth and let it sit for 5 mintues. If not, go ahead and shape it! I like to sprinkle a little cornmeal on my parchment paper before placing the dough on it. I started using a baking/pizza stone a while back and it is seriously THE BEST! If you do not have a pizza stone, you can turn a cookie sheet upside down or just use a regular pizza pan.
Place the pizza stone on the middle rack as it is pre-heating. I place parchment paper on a pizza pan, sprinkle it with cornmeal and press and stretch the dough to the desired size. With this recipe, I usually make 2 medium pizzas or one larger pizza and one small dessert pizza. I have also made 2 pizzas, wrapped one very tightly with plastic wrap (while still on the pizza pan) and frozen it to make my own frozen pizza.
Try brushing the edges with a little melted butter and sprinkling it with garlic salt and then dry grated parmesan cheese before you put your desired sauce and toppings on.
To bake, I carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza on it onto the pizza stone. Bake at 450* for 9-12 minutes, depending upon how big of pizza(s) you make (thus, how thick the crust is), how brown you like your crust, and how hot your oven runs. All ovens are a little different, so watch it carefully after about 8 minutes the first time you make this.
I use this for dessert pizza also….without the cornmeal, brushed butter, garlic and parmesan, of course! 😉 Check out my original recipe for Cinnamon Streusel Dessert Pizza!
