Salted Caramel Pancake & Waffle Syrup

I may actually never buy pancake and waffle syrup again! This is so easy, and sooo good!

If you like maple syrup….add maple flavoring instead of the caramel flavoring.  Also, keep in mind that the amount of flavoring you need may depend on how strong the flavoring is that you buy, as well as your individual taste! I use Caramel Flavoring from Olive Nation and Maple Flavoring from Olive Nation.

If you’re trying to eat less fat, you can use less butter or no butter. Or you could use some butter flavoring or extract. I have not used that, but I may try it sometime.

  1. Place sugar and water in a saucepan over med-high heat and stir until it comes to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to simmer and allow to simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mixture starts to thicken.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in butter, caramel flavoring and salt. Stir until butter has melted.
Recipe Notes

Store for up to 2 months in airtight container in refrigerator. Mixture will crystalize, so heat to boiling before serving again (over stove top or in microwave.)
